- Drives achievement of financial objectives through development
and execution of strategic initiatives; monitors insurance industry
trends; coordinates the annual financial plan for the business;
directs monthly management view financial reporting and
analysis.
- Directs the development of the assigned line of business unit
plan and forecast; directs the coordination of financial reporting
and processes for the function.
- Reviews and analyzes business related KPIs as well as the
financial impact of potential business decisions.Essential Job
Functions
- Leads all financial activities related to a specific business
such as identifying and quantifying potential opportunities,
financial modeling, and ongoing reporting and analysis.
- Works with C Suite internal and external leaders to create pro
formas, and ensure sustainable profitable growth through high
quality partnerships.
- Directs preparation of monthly management view financial
reports, analysis and forecasting to support organizational
stability, liquidity and growth.
- Coordinates monitoring of insurance industry trends and
developments; tracks industry results and monitors strategic and
financial results of competitors.
- Benchmarks company results to industry, specific competitor
groups and internal benchmarks.
- Researches insurance industry related topics.
- Promotes and defends business interests when interfacing with
internal customers, including senior leadership and committees,
management company executives and committees, state
executives.
- Engages and partners with various stakeholders, including
business unit Heads of Finance, senior BU leaders as well as senior
leaders in Compliance, Legal, FIS, Risk, and ICFR to evaluate
potential risks and course of action.
- Prepares reasonableness audits and sense checks to ensure
information is accurate and ready for executives review.
- Establishes monthly and quarterly reporting processes and gain
buy in from Farmers business units and Strategic Partnerships
leadership team.
- Directs development of strategic vision through financial and
strategic plans; evaluates and analyzes progress towards
accomplishment of these plans; responsible for long-range
forecasting and projections of financial results; coordinates the
development of the annual financial plan (P&L) for the business
unit; recommends mitigating and enhancing strategies to drive
financial performance.
- Drives continuous improvement of work processes through
re-engineering efforts and efficient use of technology.Education
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required in Accounting, Finance, Business, or
related area.
- Advanced professional designations such as CPA, CMA, CFA, FLMI,
FSA, and CLU, or an advanced college degree (MBA)
preferred.Experience Requirements
- 7-10 years demonstrated experience in insurance accounting,
auditing, and/or financial analysis including positions such as
business unit or territory financial roles required. 5-7 years
prior leadership experience required.Physical Actions
- Sits or stands for extended periods of time, up to a full work
shift.
- Occasionally reaches overhead and below the knees, including
bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
- Occasionally moves, lifts, carries, and places objects and
supplies weighing 0-10 pounds without assistance.
- Listens to, interprets, and differentiates auditory information
(e.g. others speaking) at normal speaking levels with or without
correction.
- Visually verifies and reads information.
- Visually locates material, resources and other objects.
- Ability to continuously operate a computer for extended periods
of time, up to a full work shift.
- Physical dexterity sufficient to use hands, arms, and shoulders
repetitively to operate keyboard and other office equipment up to a

- This position operates in an open office working environment
which will include normal and customary distractions, noise, and
interruptions.
